Between cravings and your crazy schedule, eating healthy can be difficult when you’re pregnant. But there’s no reason why your meals can’t be both delicious and nutritious! Treat your body (and baby!) right with these five wholesome, mouth-watering breakfast ideas.
1. Egg Wrap with Tomato Salsa
This lean, protein-filled wrap will satisfy any morning munchies. Scramble one egg and one egg white in two teaspoons olive oil. Mix in one cup of spinach, and stir until wilted. Place on a tortilla with 1/4 cup salsa: you can make your own with diced tomato, onion, cilantro, garlic, and a dash of lime. Roll up and enjoy!
2. Apple-Cinnamon Overnight Oats
Preparing these oats before bed gives you the luxury of waking up to a pre-made breakfast! Pour one cup of milk over two-thirds cup of rolled oats, and stir in 1/4 tablespoon cinnamon. Seal with plastic wrap and place in the fridge overnight. In the morning, add a chopped half apple and two tablespoons of chopped walnuts or almonds (optional).
3. Superfood Smoothie
Treat yourself and your baby to a hearty dose of nutrition with this superfood-packed smoothie. Enjoy as a healthy breakfast or snack. Combine:
- 1 1/2 cups frozen berries
- 1 banana
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- Large handful of greens (kale, spinach, chard, or others)
- 8 oz. nonfat milk or coconut milk
in a blender, and blend for 45 seconds.

4. Wholegrain Toast with Egg and Avocado
The whole-wheat toast and avocado pack fiber and Omega-3s, while a hard-boiled egg provides protein and choline, a key nutrient for moms-to-be. Toast a slice of wholegrain bread in a toaster or pan (like Torino’s cereal bread) and mash a half-avocado on top. Drizzle with olive oil, salt, and lemon, and garnish with sliced boiled egg.
5. Greek Yogurt Parfait
Simple but delicious, this parfait delivers protein, fiber, and key vitamins while satisfying your morning sweet craving!
